CFN sensitizes thousands, Admonishes Nigerians By Salaam Rasak O.

Thousands of residents in Ibadan metropolis were awed yesterday as the much-anticipated Peace Walk scheduled to hold on the 29th of May, 2018, by our voluntary organization Conflict Free Nation (CFN) was held in grand style.

Committed communitarians of the organization (Ife, Jara, Moridiyah, Amb Afees, Rilarf, Hon. Louis, Usman and co. ) were on ground to walk the talk. The centerpiece of the peace walk were: averting electoral violence and the importance of obtaining Permanent Voters Card, PVC. At a time full-fledged electoral activities approaches, the need to sensitize all and sundry, with reference to the unusual instability in our political environment, about these two issues remain germane.

However, TeamCFNOYO commenced the Peace Walk from the University of Ibadan, UI, down to Ojoo Market through which thousands of lives were touched with powerful words of admonition. More importantly, the team put the uneducated individuals into special consideration as a result of past records of political apathy. They were made to understand the importance and values of political involvement. No doubt, participating in politics is the only escape route towards getting rid of bad governance.

In similar vein, the team hammered on the need to avoid electoral violence. As matter-of-factly, electoral violence has been a recurring insignia of Nigerian politics. More than any other thing in history, Nigerians should be more guided with reasoning in order not to fall prey as instruments of political machination. We cannot continue to holler without taking necessary steps in right direction. And that's why registering and obtaining PVC remains an object of necessity.

While the peace walk was generally embraced as members of Ibadan community showered us with uncommon accommodation, it will be more interesting if Nigerians put in practice the learned lessons. It is all the more compelling for every qualified adult citizen to register and get PVC as that is the password to a secured future. Again, the youths are urged to refrain from electoral violence and also assist the law enforcement agents in curbing the menace.

In conclusion, special appreciation to members of the team who shelved out time and pool personal resources with the view of attaining a progressive and conflict free nation. Above all, we thank almighty God who made the movement a hitch-free.

Together we will achieve a peaceful, progressive, and purposeful nation.
