World Cup 2018: Nigeria vs Croatia: Balogun may miss the first game.

Super Eagles defender, Leon Balogun was unable to trained with the rest of the squad on Thursday morning and is now a major doubt for the Super Eagle World Cup opener against Croatia on Saturday.

Super Eagles defender, Leon Balogun failed to train with the rest of the squad on Thursday morning and is now a major doubt for their World Cup opener against Croatia on Saturday.

The defender that just completed his signing for Brighton and Hove Albion  has reportedly gone for a scan and the results were still being awaited, as the team left Essentuki for Kaliningrad on Thursday afternoon.

If Balogun is unable to take his place against Croats, he may be replace with Chelsea defender Kenneth Omeruo by Gernot Rohr.


The 29 years was unable to make Nigeria World Cup squad in 2014 due to the injury he sustained in March of that year.

Since he returns , he has become first choice in central defence, along with William Troost-Ekong.

Nigeria take Croatia at 8pm Nigerian time on Saturday.
