Ronaldo breaks another Messi's record with latest award

Cristiano Ronaldo has received the IFFHS World's Best Goalscorer award which recognises him as the World's Best Goalscorer in 2016 according to the International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS).

Ronaldo has won the award three times, more than any other player, having now won it in 2013, 2014 and 2016, eclipsing the two held by Lionel Messi.

The Portugal international who collected the award at Real Madrid City from the IFFHS vice-president, Robert Ley, headed a list that included goals for both his club and country in international competition.

Cristiano, who scored 24 goals (11 in international games with Real Madrid and 13 with Portugal), saw off competition from Barcelona's Lionel Messi (21), PSG striker Edinson Cavani and Ahmad (16) to the prize.
