See the new number of characters Twitter to adopt
Twitter has unveiled its plans to increase the number of characters in tweets from 140 to 280 for the majority of users.
It was clearly stated that the new limit will not apply to tweets written in Japanese, Chinese and Korean which can convey more information in a single character.
Twitter product manager, Aliza Rosen said "During the first few days of the test, many people tweeted the full 280 limit because it was new and novel, but soon after behaviour normalised,"
"We saw when people needed to use more than 140 characters, they tweeted more easily and more often. But importantly, people tweeted below 140 most of the time and the brevity of Twitter remained," he added.
