Barcelona defender is on the verge of joining Arsenal after rejecting to extend his stay at Barcelona
Arsenal have reportedly agreed to sign a 16-year-old Joel Lopez Salguero from Barcelona’s youth academy after the player refused to extend his contract with Barcelona and the club has agreed to allow the player to join Arsenal this summer as soon as both club reach an agreement.
Lopez joined Barcelona when he was just seven years old and is rated as one of the most promising youngsters at , La Masia (the club’s famed talent factory).
According to a report in Sport and RAC1 Barcelona want the player to sign a new deal with them that would see him remain with the club for a long time, but the young player informed the Catalan giants he would like to join Arsenal.
Arsenal Head of Football Relation who formerly worked with the Catalan giants Raul Sanllehi is believed to have influence the deal with Liverpool also keen on securing the teenager’s services.
An announcement of the deal is expected to be made soon.
