Former Arsenal captain appointed Nice manager

Former Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira has been appointed as the new manager of  Ligue 1 side Nice. Patrick Vieira was part of two double-winning sides with Arsenal, as well as the famous 'Invincibles' side which went through the 2003-04 league campaign unbeaten and has also played for Manchester City, Inter Milan and Juventus until recently he was the head coach of  New York City the club he signed for 3 years ago.

The 41-year-old was among the managers that were tipped   to succeed Arsene Wenger at Arsenal before the club appointed Unai Emery.

He quoted "Leaving New York is an incredibly difficult decision for me and my family and one that has not been taken lightly,"

Nice finished eighth in Ligue 1 last season, missing out on a Europa League place by one point.

Vieira takes over from Lucien Favre, who was
appointed Borussia Dortmund coach in May.

Viera will be moving with some of his coaching staff from U.S.A to his new club the coaching staff include Assistant coach Christian Lattanzio, performance coach Kristian Wilson and physical performance coach Matt Cook.
